Question: Who benefits from the work that you do at your internship? Who in the community benefits from the work? Overall, what happens at your internship site? How or why do people benefit from this work?
The work that is done by the American Diabetes Association benefits all community member who have been affected by diabetes in any way. I have been calling people with diabetes who have previously called the National Hotline to make sure that all of their questions were answered and that they had a good experience with whoever they had spoken to.
The work that is done at the ADA benefits community members because they always have somewhere they can call if they have questions about diabetes or even if they need to just talk through a recent diagnosis. This creates a more educated community bringing more attention to diabetes prevention and the lifestyle of someone who has diabetes.
