Question: What qualities or characteristics did you see in the people around you that you want to develop in yourself? Why? How did your view beyond high school change or develop during your time as an intern? How might internship influence the direction of your life (college, career, goals)?

I saw a lot of dedication in my colleagues. They all have the same end goal: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. I see this in all of the work that they do, all of the extra hours they spend at the office finishing projects that will improve the community, and the conversations that they have with people suffering from diabetes. Everyone is also very hard working and passionate about what they do. Internship confirmed for me that I really want to go into the medical field. I loved learning about diabetes so it brought up a possibility I had never thought of before, endocrinology. It also made me realize that I really like working in small group settings, having only a few employees at the greater San Diego office was really nice because I got to know everyone really well and had a great time with the people that I have been working with for the last month.
